In the image below Jess's intuitive rapport with the horse becomes strikingly apparent. The horse's discomfort is palpable as it keeps its ears drawn back, subtly indicating its unease. Jess's acute perception acts as a reflective surface, mirroring the internal dysregulation felt by the student and horse.

In the image on the left, Jess swiftly intervenes to recalibrate the situation, steering it towards a state of balanced equilibrium. Maintaining equilibrium ensures that a horse's physiological and psychological needs are met allowing them to communicate, move, and interact with their surroundings in a way that aligns with their natural instincts.

Similarly, when humans are emotionally regulated, their cognitive functions are optimised, stress levels are reduced, and their interactions with the world are more harmonious.
